Candidate Application Information

Thank you for your interest in the scholarship of the Booker T. Washington High School National Alumni Association of Texarkana, Arkansas. This scholarship was created in memory of our first National President – Dr. Claudius N. Shropshire, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.- to benefit young adults attending college for the first time or continuing college students.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This Scholarship Fund represents money acquired by the Booker T. Washington High School National Alumni Association, Texarkana, Arkansas. It also represents the collective efforts of each Chapter (Local or At-Large) and its individual members. This Scholarship Fund is maintained and dispensed by methods consistent with practices of other organizations with similar interests.

ELIGIBILITY

Any high school graduate who maintained a 2.0 grade point average or higher in solid subjects, recommended by a Chapter or At-Large member in good standing may apply. The Alumni member must write a letter of Recommendation for the Candidate. All persons who desire scholarship shall apply in writing to the National Scholarship Committee in order to be considered.

AMOUNTS

Five thousand dollars ($5000.00) will be set aside biennially for Scholarships. This amount maybe increased or decreased at the discretion of the National Body, depending on funds available. The amount of this Scholarship is five hundred dollars ($500). This amount may be increased or decreased at the discretion of the National Body.

TIME OF PRESENTATION

Scholarship Recipients will be announced at the National Biennial Reunion Banquet.

ISSUANCE OF FUNDS

Funds shall be issued to Scholarship Recipients only after (s)/he presents to the National Scholarship Committee proof of enrollment from an accredited college for the fall term.
